Is Jesus God? Part 1

Many people object to Christ's divinity by asking where did Jesus say "I am God, worship me" in the bible. However, it is sad to see that people think that there is only one way for Jesus to say "I am God, worship me".

First, it is totally absurd to force someone to say something in the exact way you want them to in order to believe something about them. There is more than one way that Jesus can claim to be God than just say "I am God, worship me". If someone said, "I am eternal, all powerful creator of the universe", would that be sufficient enough that they're claiming to be God? Of course it would. This shows that this argument is totally irrational and a desperate attempt to disprove Jesus's divinity.

Second, Jesus did actually claim to be God and He did accept worship from others. In John 8:58, Jesus claimed not only that he is pre-existent but he also claimed the name "I AM"(a title Yahweh gave Himself in Exodus 3:14 when he was talking to Moses). In the original greek language, Jesus said in John 8:58 is "ego eimi (ἐγὼ εἰμί)", which literally means "I, I Am" or "I exist". It is not translated that way because that is not proper english. So, what Jesus was saying was this: "before Abraham was, I was I Am." Furthermore, "eimi" also means "I exist" as well. So, Jesus was clear that he pre-existed Abraham and He was the "I AM." It was so clear to the Jews that Jesus was claiming to be God that they started to throw stones at Him because they knew this meant He was placing Himself in the position of God, which was blasphemous.

Jesus also claimed that He is the Divine Son of Man of Daniel 7:13-14 in Mark 14:62 - "“I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”" The Jewish scholars (The Pharisees) have vast knowledge about the Old Testament and the moment Jesus claimed to be the Son of Man they all wanted Jesus to be executed for blasphemy (Mark 16:63-65) as they knew only God could claim this title.

Moreover, Jesus accepted worship from His disciples on multiple occasions (Matthew 14:33, 28:9, 28:17; Luke 24:51-52; John 9:38). He also accepted the title of God after His own disciple Thomas called Him "my Lord and my God" (John 20:28-29), He claimed to be the fulfillment of the prophecies in the Old Testament of God(Yahweh) coming to Israel (Malachi 3:1; Matthew 11:10), He claimed to have the attributes of God (Matthew 7:21-23, 25:31-32, 28:20; Mark 2:5-11; John 5:25-29, 6:35, 39, 44, 54, 11:25, 14:6, 13-14, 17:5, etc...).

So, Jesus clearly did claim to be God and showed it in many different ways. The argument that demands Jesus say a certain phrase is greatly msguided.
